The UK law requires that ALL dogs need to wear an indentity disc, even if a dog is chipped or tattooed. Hundreds of dogs are simply lost every year because owners fail to fit ID discs. You MUST have three criteria on your dogs disc, these are :
Your Surname
Your House name or number
Your Post code
Putting your telephone or mobile number on is a good idea. When exercising your dog, remember to take your mobile phone with you, lost dogs are often found by people who also carry mobiles.
Additionaly you may want to include your full address
If your going on holiday, fit a disc showing details where you are staying, including your mobile number.
Do not put the dogs name on the disc, this will encourage the wrong type of people to lure your dog away. Thousands of dogs are stolen each year. Don't make it easy for them.
If your dog is found without any identity, upon collection you may be liable to a heavy fine.
